Love lasts three years - this is the law of nature. This is the opinion of Marc Marronnier, the hero of F. Beigbeder's book "Love Lives Three Years", familiar to readers from the novels "Memoirs of an Ungentlemanly Young Man", a romantic tale of love written by an ironic Parisian snob, and "Holiday in a Coma", a daring caricature of modern French bohemia. But the reason for the novel's hero's divorce from his wife is in no way connected with the laws of nature, it's just that a new love captures him completely, leaving no room for anything else. However, Marc believes in his theory of the three-year cycle and therefore waits with hidden fear for the approach of the fateful date.

In 2012, Frederic Beigbeder made a film based on his own book with Louise Bourgoin and Gaspard Proust in the leading roles, acting as director and screenwriter.
