Vasily Aksyonov loved adventurous characters and adventurous plots, and therefore, having agreed to write in the series "Flaming Revolutionaries" (there was such a series in Politizdat in 1968-1990), he chose Leonid Krasin, a kind of Bolshevik James Bond, as his hero. An electrical engineer by education (a brilliant engineering mind), in the 1890s L. Krasin changes machines, generators, batteries to electricity of a different kind - he becomes the head of the RSDLP fighting group. "O Russia... Tolstoy plows the land ... Engineer Krasin builds power plants and makes bombs..." The plot of the story at times resembles an action movie. Aksyonov's dynamic, lively language leads to the finale with incredible speed and surprises with an unpredictable denouement.
