New Mexico-class battleships (1914–1956)

"Standard battleship" - a series of twelve battleships of five different types, built in the USA in 1911-1916, and commissioned in 1916-1923.
The role of the American "standard battleships" is difficult to overestimate. It was they who moved the "mistress of the seas" from her centuries-old pedestal. The "industrial" concept of warfare at sea justified itself in full. "God is always on the side of the big battalions" - they said then in America, repeating the words of Marshal of France Jacques d'Etampes. Due to the remoteness from land theaters of military operations and unlimited industrial resources, the Americans quite easily intercepted the primacy at sea from Britain. And these 12 "standard battleships" played the leading role in this.
They included "New Mexico", "Mississippi" and "Idaho".
