The writer Vasily Dmitrievich Sokolov is widely known to Soviet readers for his novel "Invasion," as well as his novellas and short stories. "The Crash" is the second book in the author's planned trilogy about the fate of the Russian people and their heroism during the Great Patriotic War. This novel is a continuation of the already acclaimed novel "Invasion." The action in the new novel takes place in Moscow, at the walls of Stalingrad, in the Voronezh region, and in the partisan forests of Belarus. The work devotes considerable space to Hitler's headquarters and Paulus's headquarters. The fates of the main characters in "The Crash" are set against the backdrop of major historical events that became turning points for our country in the war against the Nazi hordes. "People at war" is how this work can be characterized, truthfully and profoundly depicting the lives of the people during a time of great trials.
