Books for reading are collections of historical stories taken from various sources. These collections were compiled in the process of teaching Russian history in the elementary classes of the Russian Classical School. The presentation of material in Reading Books is fragmentary, episodic in nature, although the arrangement of texts is given in a chronological sequence. On the one hand, these stories can be used for propaedeutic purposes in primary school, on the other - as additional material in the study of history in high school.
The books for reading on history were based on the following methodological principles:
study of civil, ecclesiastical and spiritual history of Russia as a single inseparable process;
The spiritual factor is the leading factor in the national history;
Imagery and emotional presentation of specific historical material are important conditions for the study of history.
The texts of the Books are stories about how the Russian people lived, about how our state grew and grew stronger, about the selfless, selfless service of Russian people to their Fatherland, about their faith in the high destiny of Russia, about their difficult struggle with enemies internal and external.
The second part of the fourth book for reading on Russian history is devoted to the most important events in the history of Russia of the XX century - the revolution of 1917 and the Civil War. In this part, children learn about how Russia ceased to be a monarchy, about the tragic fate of Emperor Nicholas II and his family, about those few who remained loyal to the Tsar. It also tells about the rise to power of the Leninist party and the creation of a new Soviet state about the white armies led by former tsarist generals, about their heroic but futile efforts to destroy the non-Russian Soviet power, about the holy martyrs who died at the hands of godless executioners and about many other mournful and bright things that happened in our Fatherland during these years. Stories placed in the book can be used in the study of Russian history both in elementary school and in high school as additional material.
