Elsa, an aspiring writer from Lyon, admires the work of the recently deceased famous novelist Beatrice Blandy. A meeting with Beatrice's widower, the movie producer Tomá, is the beginning of their romantic relationship. Provincial Elsa moves into a luxurious Parisian apartment, where the walls are still hung with photographs of Beatrice, the tables are stacked with her trinkets, and the entrance to her office is strictly forbidden.
