Christina Baker Kline (b. 1964) is an American writer whose books have been published in 40 countries, and her articles, essays, and reviews have appeared in The New York Times, NYT Book Review, The Boston Globe, The San Francisco Chronicle, LitHub, Psychology Today, and Slate. Cline's novels have won the New England Award for Fiction, the Maine Literary Award, and the Barnes & Noble Discover Award; and have been selected by hundreds of communities, schools, and universities - participants in the One Book, One Read project (christinabakerkline.com). In 2013, Orphan Train was published, which brought the author to fame and became a bestseller. This novel is based on real events of American history - thus Christina Baker Kline declared herself as a writer who reveals noteworthy, but little-known facets of the past. The heroines of the novel "Exiles" (2020) among other prisoners were sent from England to the penal colonies of Australia in the XIX century. These women have a difficult fate, they have seen a lot of grief and injustice, but the hope for a better life does not leave them. How will the exiles meet the distant continent? Will it become for them a new prison or a second homeland?...? For the first time in Russian!
