Titus Livius (59 BC - 17 AD) was a great ancient Roman historian who devoted almost his entire life to writing a fundamental work on the history of Rome. The work consisted of 142 books (corresponding to modern chapters), but only books 1-10 and 21-45 (describing events up to 292 BC and from 218 to 167 BC), small fragments of other books, as well as periochs - short paraphrases of the content have survived. For the first time, at the beginning of the 20th century, all the surviving chapters of the History of Rome
Subsequently, a team of famous philologists and historians of antiquity, headed by Zelinsky F.F., Knabe G.S., Gasparov M.L. and Smirin V.M. made a modern, improved translation, which was supplemented with valuable commentaries explaining the thought of Titus Livy. It is this version of the translation that we offer to the reader.
