Leibniz: His Life, Works, and Teachings

This volume of Karl Fischer's "History of Modern Philosophy" is dedicated to the German philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1646–1716), who is famous in cultural history for inventing (parallel to Isaac Newton) the differential calculus in mathematics, the monad in metaphysics (philosophy), and theodicy in theology. In classical logic, he proposed the final principle—the principle of sufficient reason. Leibniz was both a politician and an organizer of scientific communities. He advised Louis XIV, organized the Berlin Academy of Sciences, designed the St. Petersburg Academy (met with Peter the Great), and did much more.

His fundamental principle in life was pre-established harmony. This publication is intended for students and teachers of philosophy, historians of philosophy, and anyone interested in the development of global spiritual culture.
