This work is a translation of the book "Inkerin Suomalaisten historia" ("History of the Ingrian Finns"), published in Finland in 1969.

It describes the fate of the people who until recently inhabited a significant territory of the Neva River region - Ingria, an ethnic group formed by the will of the Swedish ruler, developed under the rule of the Russian crown, persecuted by the Soviet state and practically ceased to exist as a people in modern Russia. A significant part of the book is devoted to the autochthonous peoples - the Vods and Izhora.

This publication presents the opinions of the authors on key moments in the history of Ingria, reflecting the views of the population of Finland in the mid-20th century. Many historical events mentioned here are currently interpreted differently, which, however, does not diminish the significance of this work.

The book was created for the descendants of the Ingrian Finns, Votes, Izhorians, as well as for people interested in the history of the land on which they lived.
