St. Petersburg is more than a city. The book you are holding in your hands is more than just stories of houses. These are whole lives, epochs, memories.
This is a book about everyday life in not the most famous, but certainly interesting houses of St. Petersburg and Leningrad: from the profitable house of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra to the constructivist housing estate on Tractor Street.
Twenty-five houses of St. Petersburg and the people whose names are connected with these houses are the heroes of this book.
Through the fates of residents and architects, facades and interiors, we tell the story of the city as a whole: tragic, happy, important, curious - different.
This book is the result of the joint work of three inspired people. Yulia Galkina is the editor of "The Village. Petersburg", Maxim Kosmin - author of a popular blog in Instagram, nominated for the award "TOP 50. The most famous people of St. Petersburg". And also a photographer - Anton Akimov, who shoots on film and conveys the unique atmosphere of the time. Together they walked through their hometown, collecting memories of residents, old photos and archive documents, explored attics, balconies and front rooms.
