"Inspection" and "Rebekah's Number" is the continuation of the tetralogy "Shadows of the Past". The first part of the book continues the story of young von Till, a guard at Dachau, begun in the novel "Wieland". He has advanced in his career, came with an inspection in Auschwitz and communicates with coworkers, trying to understand at what point the beautiful dreams of the revenge of a great nation turned into a cult of Moloch. "Rebekah's Number" presents what is happening from the point of view of Wieland's lover, a German Jewess and concentration camp inmate.

Oksana Kirillova spent several years working with archives: the characters she invented interact with real historical figures. The books of the cycle cover the period from the 1930s to the 1990s, with the main events taking place in Germany and Russia. However, this is not a narrative loaded with dry historical facts, but a gripping story of tragic love, debunked ideals and unexpected twists and turns.
