Clive Staples Lewis (1898-1963) was a prominent British writer, author of the famous Chronicles of Narnia series, which has sold over 100 million copies. However, Lewis is also widely known as the author of philosophical works on Christianity, which largely reflected his personal religious experience. As a teenager Lewis drifted away from the faith under the influence of his teacher's atheistic views, but by the age of 30, now under the influence of his university environment and one of his best friends, John R.R. Tolkien, he had reverted to the Anglican faith. Toward the end of his life he began to lean toward Catholicism and received his last communion according to the Catholic rite. The collection includes three of Lewis's classic works of apologetics of Christianity - Just Christianity, Love, and Suffering. Clive Staples Lewis, one of the first Christian philosophers of the twentieth century, advanced the bold idea of an "ecumenical Christianity" that is not bound to a particular denominational affiliation. True faith has nothing to do with the disagreements of the various branches of Christianity, and that, according to Lewis, is the essence of "just Christianity."
