Charles Bukowski is a cult American writer of the twentieth century, author of more than forty books, including novels, poems, essays and short stories. Despite the sometimes shocking naturalism, his texts are full of lyricism, even a kind of sentimentality.
The novel "Hollywood" is based on the real story of Bukowski's work on the script of the movie "Drunk", which was directed by Barbet Schroeder in 1987. It starred such stars as Mickey Rourke and Faye Dunaway, and the prototypes of the characters are still easily recognizable today: Francis Ford Coppola, Jean-Luc Godard, Werner Herzog, Norman Mailer and others.
