With the onset of the pandemic, the main character moves for a year from the capital to Chuvashia, to his wife’s relatives, and finds himself in an unfamiliar world, subject to its internal laws. Watching the young son, who understands and at the same time does not understand the native languages of his parents - Russian and Chuvash, the hero involuntarily compares himself with the baby, studying the local way of life and trying to adapt to the unusual mentality and a new pace of life. This story, written in the unhurried Shukshin manner, is full of amusing dialogues and paradoxical encounters. Here the serious coexists with the absurd, and the boundaries of the rational seem shaky, resonating with the fleeting coveted reality.
