Moscow, 1990s. Ilya, a student at the Moscow Literary Institute, travels to his native Baku to see his mother and sort himself out. Amidst political and social upheaval and a personal crisis, Ilya has an affair that becomes a turning point in his life.

"Frau Schramm" is a story about the past and the present, about love and duty, about the bitter romance of a "vacation" in a country where echoes of empire still linger and new identities are emerging. The text's voice is exclusively male, direct, and surprisingly frank. At the same time, the protagonist is sensitive to the events and reflects on them, comparing his own life with the perspective of Moscow and the retrospective Baku in which the events unfold. The theme of social strata, personal freedom, and choice becomes a metaphor for how people live and change in changing times.
