Gleb Shulpyakov is a poet, novelist, and author of the literary study "Batyushkov Is Not Sick" (shortlisted for the Bolshaya Kniga Prize).

The external life of the poet Yevgeny Boratynsky (1800–1844) contains few action-packed stories. The turbulent era of the Napoleonic Wars ended before he reached adulthood. He was not a member of any secret alliances. His creative heyday coincided with the period of Nicholas II's reaction. His most vivid stories took shape in his inner world. "Pyroscaphe" is the title of one of Boratynsky's best poems, as well as the steam-sail vessel on which the poet made the journey that turned out to be his last. "Pyroscaphe" expresses the fullness of existence, its truth. When wind meets steam, man meets nature, the past meets the future, reason meets feeling, and freedom meets Providence.
