France, 1944. In an old stone cottage on the outskirts of a beautiful village in the Dordogne, three sisters dream of the end of the war. Hélène, the eldest, works as a nurse in the village hospital and does her best to keep their small family safe. Elise, a rebel, keeps a café that serves as a "mailbox" for the local guerrillas, while the youngest, Florence, a dreamer, looks after the house, cooks and works in the garden. One night Florence discovers a young German deserter in the barn, and the sisters decide to hide him. That same night, the village doctor asks them to give shelter to an Englishman who has been sent here to lead the partisan struggle. And the sisters find themselves in the thick of things. They must make a choice that will dramatically change their lives. And then family secrets begin to surface, which can destroy everything they hold dear...
"Daughters of War" - this is the first part of a trilogy about the lives of three sisters in war-torn France.
