This collection of documents contains the first published diaries of the participants of the Arctic Ocean Hydrographic Expedition: Boris Vladimirovich Davydov (1883–1925), Aleksey Modestovich Lavrov (1887–1942), and Nikolay Ivanovich Evgenov (1888–1964). During this multi-year expedition on the ships Taimyr and Vaigach, not only were a number of islands and a vast archipelago north of the Taimyr Peninsula (now Severnaya Zemlya) discovered, but also, for the first time in Russian history, a route was traveled from east to west from Vladivostok to Arkhangelsk along the shores of Siberia, opening the era of navigation along the Northern Sea Route. The published documents are stored in the Archives of the Russian Geographical Society, the Russian State Archive of Economics, and in the Davydov family archive.

The publication is intended for historians of Russia and the Arctic, and a wide range of readers interested in the history of the Fatherland.
