The culmination of the historical events of the second decade of the last century, which split Russian society, was the Civil War, in the most brutal and uncompromising confrontation of which 1.5 million Russian citizens were thrown out of the Motherland.
Thousands of Russian children, often homeless, hungry, ragged, sick, homeless, found themselves on the streets of foreign cities. The most important task of the Russian emigration was to take care of them, and the Russian school helped to solve this problem.
Since the end of 1923, students of Russian schools in Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Turkey wrote 2,400 essays on the topic "My Memories from 1917 to Entering the Gymnasium." Their authors told not only about what they had to endure in their Motherland and during their wanderings, but also about the role that the Russian national school played in their fate. From these individual stories came the history of a generation - a generation whose childhood coincided with the tragic events in Russia that irrevocably changed the lives of its citizens.
