Children of the Night. A Collection of Stories
Two mystical stories under one cover.
"Children of the Night"
The Gothic castle of Schrecken Schloss holds the legend of Count Edgar, a vampire and sorcerer. A group of friends, sheltering from a rainstorm within its walls, inadvertently awaken the "children of the night"—servants of darkness, eternally hungry for prey. Under the vaults of the ancient castle, where the very air is permeated with magic, it is easy to awaken those who dwell in the darkness of the night. To survive, they must solve the riddle of Schrecken Schloss, find the key to an ancient power, and understand that sometimes salvation can only be achieved by embracing the part of the darkness that lives within each of us.
"Daughter of Samhain"
Nineteen years ago, in the Irish town of Khilarney, Fiona's parents made a deal with the dark forces. In exchange, they received everything they dreamed of: a beautiful girl with skin whiter than snow and hair the color of ash. Forgotten vows in the mortal world are an eternal law for the Fair Folk. Fiona, born on the night of Samhain, is a child of the moon and primordial magic, promised to the Horned God. When she turns nineteen, the barrier between worlds thins: unknown creatures watch her at night, and unknown and terrifying powers awaken within her.
Now all the creatures of the night hunt her: devourers, ghostly hounds, and a black stag. To gain freedom, Fiona will have to remember who she truly is and come face to face with the Horned Lord himself, who has waited for her for nineteen years.
