Andreas Kuppler is a successful sports commentator in Germany during the Third Reich, an aesthete and music lover. His wife is an admirer of the Fuhrer and Goebbels, her dreams are limited to happy motherhood. The life of this young, beautiful and seemingly harmonious couple is poisoned by the internal torments of both: Andreas
clearly sees that the country is heading towards the abyss and resists the attempt to drag him down with it; Magdalena dreams of a child and, in despair, loses the ability to reason rationally.

The 1936 Winter Olympics should become a new peak in Andreas's career, but instead they become a point of no return. The events in the snowy Alps leave him no choice - and at the same time allow him to become himself: he stops playing by the rules of the Nazi regime and establishes his own.
