Friedrich Nietzsche (1844 - 1900) was a prominent German philosopher whose views and research only gained widespread popularity after his death. A nineteenth-century philosopher, he became a symbol of the twentieth century.

Human, All Too Human is a vibrant, controversial, and emblematic work of this great thinker, first published in 1878. The work is subtitled "A Book for the Free Spirit." It is a watershed book for Nietzsche, in which he renounces his previous idealistic theories, adopting a position of firm skepticism. He reexamines all of European culture and lashes out at his former idols, Wagner and Schopenhauer.
