The memoirs of Colonel of the General Staff Georgy Stepanovich Khutiev (1880-1964) tell about one of the most dramatic episodes of the Civil War in Russia - the anti-Bolshevik Terek Cossack Uprising, which lasted from June to December 1918, better known in Russian historiography as the "Bicherakhov Uprising", after one of the main leaders - engineer G.F. Bicherakhov. Khutiev's memoirs are, in fact, the only attempt to write a military-political history of the Terek Cossack Uprising. The author gives his vision of the situation that developed in the Terek region in 1917-1918, describes the complex interethnic relations in the region and the actions of the opposing sides, covering all the numerous fronts of the uprising, characterizes most of the key players (brothers G.F. and L.F. Bicherakhov, E.A. Mistulov, etc.), and gives the reasons for the failure of the uprising. Of undoubted value are the maps prepared by Khutiev, which clearly show the progress of the uprising.
