This is a biography of the crush of two young people who travel through New York City in the 70's, quoting Nietzsche and Joni Mitchell.
The story begins on July 4, 1976, when students George and Anna meet on the night of America's bicentennial celebration. George instantly falls in love with the sensual, beguiling Anna. But their romance is short-lived; soon they part ways and each go their separate ways. For the next forty years they both still wonder what happened on the evening of their parting. After going through failed marriages, the difficulties of fatherhood and career, George and Anne do reunite at the beginning of a new century.
