The Bansenshukai is the oldest surviving ninjutsu manual, compiled in the 17th century by the eminent ninja Samuji Fujibayashi. Soon after its publication, the book became the primary training manual for most ninja clans and remained so until the late 19th century. The book is still used today to train Japanese special forces fighters. The book describes in detail the philosophy and moral code of the ninja, the basic techniques, methods of hand-to-hand combat, rules of conspiracy, ways of recruiting agents and extracting information, tells about the correct attack, the preparation of poisons and the organization of assassination attempts. The book is a treasure trove of specialized knowledge and Eastern wisdom.
