The cycle of novels "Sons of the Big Dipper" Lieselotte Welskopf-Heinrich (1901-1979) is on a par with adventure books about the Indians of North America Fenimore Cooper and Mein Reed. The works of the German writer have become classics of youth literature, survived dozens of reprints and have been translated into many languages. The cycle began with a novel of the same name, which was published in 1951, and its author was awarded a prestigious literary prize. In the following years, Welskopf-Heinrich did not leave work on the book and significantly expanded it. The first complete edition saw the light of day in the early 1960s in three volumes (subsequently, the cycle was also published as a six-volume book). To the attention of readers is the first book of the trilogy "Harka, the son of the chief", which tells the story of how the life of the Indian tribe of hunters suddenly invades the white man in search of gold ... The novel is presented in a new, complete translation by R. S. Eyvadis (previously, "Sons of the Big Dipper" was published only in abridged form). The book also includes beautiful illustrations by P. L. Paramonov.
