There are several significant dates in the history of the Great Patriotic War. The most famous of them are the Battle of Moscow and the Battle of Stalingrad, one of the largest military operations of the entire Second World War. In these battles, the military might of the hitherto invincible Wehrmacht was broken and the foundation for future victories was laid. However, between these two battles there is a rather long period of time, the events of which are not too well known to non-professionals. The more interesting to dive into the intricacies of strategic plans and military operations of this period, because it was then that the Soviet command was able to analyze the experience of the first months of fighting and radically change the tactics of troops on the battlefield and strategic planning in the headquarters. In V.A. Runov's book, the reader will be able to see how this rebuilding took place and at what price the subsequent victories were bought.
