Farouk, whose students have long since succeeded and opened their own restaurants, is still a simple chef. His wife persuades him to start his own business - a tiny coffee shop serving coffee brewed according to a secret recipe that Farouk has never revealed to anyone until now. From this point begins the countdown of the non-linear story, which consists of several layers, as if drowned in each other. The characters telling about their fates turn out to be fragments of a complex pattern woven by fate. And all of them are invisibly connected, although at first it seems that there is nothing in common - only a wonderful country and its air, in which the aromas of coffee and spices and ringing anxiety, because this land has not known calm days since time immemorial.
The book, written in a parable-like manner, where the real is closely intertwined with the fictional, actually reveals the dark pages of Turkey's history.
