This book presents Vladimir Nabokov's translation of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" in Berlin in 1923.

You will be able to appreciate his unique style and interpretation for yourself. After all, Nabokov was not just a Russian writer, but a bilingual writer. Having lived for many years in both England and America, he said of himself: "I am an American writer, born in Russia, educated in England. My head speaks English, and my heart speaks Russian."

Interestingly, Nabokov didn't simply translate "Alice in Wonderland" but completely Russified Carroll's work. One could say he transposed the tale from culture to culture, adapting it for Russian-speaking readers. And his Alice became the familiar Anya.

Furthermore, the book includes wonderful illustrations by Russian artist Anna Yudina.

Colourful, vibrant, and filled with incredible detail, they won the IBBY International Illustration Competition for a reason. Now you too can enjoy the artist's extraordinary and vibrant style, as well as the book's entire style.
