On a quiet autumn evening in September 1905, in the ancient city of Smyrna, a girl is born, who will be named Shaherazade. The contractions in labor were so strong and painful that even opium did not ease her suffering.
On the same day, a ship anchors in the local harbor, aboard which an Indian spy arrives on a secret mission for the British Empire.
