Confessions of a "flawed" man is perhaps the most famous work of Dajia Osamu, one of the greatest Japanese writers of the new time, written in the genre of "watakushi-shōsetsu" ("novel of the self"). It is believed that this text is a kind of autobiography of the writer, in which he tells not about the vicissitudes of his life journey, but about the agonizing wanderings of his ego. The epithet "inferior" is not taken in quotation marks for nothing. The spiritual vivisection, to which the protagonist of the story subjects himself, unexpectedly highlights the deceitfulness of the surrounding society, and the ability of "full-fledged" people to lie without fear of consequences, which is incomprehensible for an inferior person. The hero's simple-minded confidence in his inferiority becomes less and less convincing to the reader as he reads.
