The collection includes Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish folk tales, collected in the 19th century by Scandinavian folklorists. Incidentally, it includes Astrid Lindgren's favorite tale, "The Three Magic Leaves," and Hans Christian Andersen's "The Hunter Brüte." The tales were translated into Russian by the renowned Scandinavian scholar and renowned master of literary translation, Lyudmila Braude. In her interpretation, Scandinavian folklore characters acquire individual, memorable traits, even when they live in tales with familiar plots originating from other countries. The finishing touches to this portrait of the Scandinavian folk tale were added by the vibrantly individual artist Tamara Yufa from Karelia.

Its patterned, decorative design is in tune with the ornamentation of Northern nature itself, its magical castles further emphasize the fabulousness of medieval architecture, and its characters - lyrical and mysterious - are unique.
