Richard Horatio Edgar Wallace (1875-1932) was one of the most popular writers of the early twentieth century. He was born in Greenwich into an acting family. Dropping out of school at the age of 12, he went from one job to another until 18, after which he joined the army. In 1896 Edgar went to South Africa, where he served in medical units. After demobilization, he worked as a correspondent for the agency "Wraiter" and the London newspaper "Daily Mail", and in 1901 became editor of the newspaper in Johannesburg. Wallace's first novels did not pay off financially. Commercial success came to him in the 1910s, and in the 20s he became the most published English writer (every fourth book published was his novel). Wallace wrote 173 novels, 23 plays, more than 1000 stories, while Edgar did not interrupt journalistic activity. On the works of Wallace put 170 movies. The writer died in Hollywood while working on the script of the famous "King Kong". This volume contains two novels by Wallace: "The Blue Hand" (1925) and "The Mystery of the Yellow Daffodils" (1926), which were part of a series called "The Four Just".
