The Call of Empty Villages is a creepy first-person folk horror story.
One day, several friends stumbled upon a strange legend online: in a certain village near Moscow, once a year at the end of October, someone would leave in an ambulance with a heart attack. Gradually, the number of local residents dwindled, but the attacks continued. The mysticism grew more and more common. Without thinking twice, our heroes decided to test this legend.
This book is a printed sequel to one of the most mystical blogs, "Sudari. Journeys through Mystical Russia." What the bloggers experienced during this test was hard to believe, but impossible to stop. Since then, they have traveled almost all over our vast country, recording local folklore and verifying legends, all the while documenting everything on their blog. What remained behind the scenes is now on paper: three mystical journeys through abandoned Russian villages—Vereiki, Yusino, and Mikhalko-Maidan—where the Sudars will drink tea with real witches, enlist the help of a local sorcerer in a fight against very strange brothers who look more like devils, spend the night in a cemetery, ride in a taxi with a horned driver with hooves instead of feet, and return home alive.
And you'll feel it all as if you're right there with the Sudars: the travel planning, the conversations in the car and around the campfire, the filming moments and the behind-the-scenes moments.
