Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann was a bright representative of German Romanticism, a storyteller, composer, author of magical and fantastic works. The fairy tale "The Pot of Gold" is a magnificent example of Hoffman's work. Anselm is an ordinary Dresden student. He is good-looking, but poor as a church mouse, and also very clumsy and constantly gets into awkward situations. It seems that bad luck just haunts the poor guy. But suddenly he gets lucky - he is hired to copy ancient manuscripts for the mysterious archivist Lindgorst. And then Anselm's life changes abruptly: the young man begins to be haunted by amazing visions. Soon Anselm finds himself at the very center of the confrontation between two worlds: the ordinary, where he has a modest position, simple worldly pleasures and a pretty bride Veronica, and the unknown, fantastic, where he is in love with the captivating Serpentina, daughter of the fire spirit Salamander. Will Anselm get the hand and heart of the green serpent Serpentina and a pot of gold to go with it, or will he prefer a more conventional life with Veronica?
