Sergey Chuprinin's new book consists of two parts. The first, "Twelve Fat Men," is a collection of essays on the historical fate of the oldest and most famous periodical literary publications in Russia. The second part, "A String," is a reference book containing brief information about all the Russian "thick" and "thin" (both "paper" and online) literary magazines, almanacs, serial collections, newspapers, and, in general, publications that have come to the author's attention that aim to publish literary works or study them. In this work, which covers more than a hundred years of the history of Russian literary periodicals, the author acts both as an independent researcher and as an active participant in the process, combining scientific, journalistic, and encyclopedic approaches and constructing a complex and voluminous picture of the past magazine century. Sergei Chuprinin is a Doctor of Philology, professor at the Literary Institute, editor-in-chief of the Znamya magazine, author of the books The Thaw: Events, The Thaw: Characters, and the collection The Thaw as Disobedience.
