"The Life of Jesus Christ" is Farrar's most popular work. It went through numerous editions before the Revolution; it remains in print today. Its text was first published in 1874. The story recounts the earthly life of Jesus. Farrar presents the events of Scripture in chronological order and subjects them to historical analysis. The Russian translation of the text was done by Alexander Pavlovich Lopukhin (1851–1904), a Russian church writer, researcher, and theologian engaged in educational work and the interpretation of Holy Scripture. The publication is adorned with maps, illustrations, initial letters, and other decorative elements created by several artists.
