Charles Bukowski is one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century, the author of more than forty books, including novels, poetry, essays, and short stories. Despite his sometimes shocking naturalism, his texts are lyrical, even sentimental.

The novel "Women" was written at the height of his popularity and features many of Bukowski's signature touches: self-mockery, abundant sex scenes, and a dynamic plot. The book's hero, Henry Chinaski, is 50 years old and serves as the author's constant alter ego. The novel is a series of highly explicit sex scenes, united by a central theme: the hero's endless love for his women, his admiration for them, and his crudely sincere admiration.

A rebel and romantic, unwilling to fit into any mold, disdaining any rules—this is the image that evokes in everyone who reads Charles Bukowski's books.

Those who hear music in his deliberately brutal prose and poetry, who discern poetry behind the mask of cynicism and foul language, will love him forever.

Bukowski, however, seemed indifferent to being heard. He followed his own path, disdaining refined people and refined, emasculated art.
