Mikhail Petrovich Mikheyev (1911-1993) was a remarkable Soviet poet and a recognized master of action fiction, a leading figure in Soviet detective fiction, spy novels, and science fiction. The writer focused on the struggle of detectives against economic crime. His detective story, "The Smell of Chypre," became a sensation in 1976.

The "bugs"—thieves of socialist property—settled comfortably in the stable and serene Soviet environment. The story's protagonist, an OBKhSS (Department for Combating the Misappropriation of Socialist Property) officer, arrived in unfamiliar Novosibirsk. Her first assignment was to infiltrate a gang of retail workers under the guise of a commodity expert. Thieves, cornered, might even resort to murder... They are ready to shake the foundations of Soviet society.

This book is intended for fans of retro detective fiction, recreating the atmosphere of Soviet life, and for all connoisseurs of action-packed literature.
