This collection includes five books by Perelman: "Entertaining Astronomy" (1938), "Distant Worlds" (1919), "By Rocket to the Moon" (1935), "To the Stars by Rocket" (1934), and "Interplanetary Travel" (1935). The texts in modern spelling and (in some cases) with updated numerical data are given according to the corresponding publications. During editing, only some outdated numbers were replaced, individual additions and notes were made, but, as far as possible, the spirit of the time when these texts were written was preserved - when new discoveries had not yet been properly interpreted, an airplane was more often called an aeroplane, and the English science fiction writer Herbert Wells delighted readers with his new works. Fortunately, the scientific content of Yakov Isidorovich's articles is selected in such a way that it can never become outdated.
298 drawings in these books were made (in close contact with Perelman himself) by the staff artist of the Leningrad publishing house “Vremya” Yuri (Georgy) Dmitrievich Skaldin (1891–1951), the artist of the Ethnographic Museum Georgy Borisovich Ibach (1910–1938), and others.
