Law of Forgetfulness

The seventeenth century was a turbulent one in the history of England. In 1649, Cromwell's rebels publicly beheaded Charles I, and in 1660, the monarch's son, Charles II, ascended the throne. To end the cycle of massacres, a law was passed granting pardon to all participants in the Civil War. All except those who signed the king's death warrant. These men are hunted down, caught and brutally executed. Two of them, loyal supporters of Cromwell, Colonels Edward Whalley and William Goffe, saving their lives, flee to the edge of the world. But even there they cannot hide from the shrewd Richard Nayler, an official of the Privy Council who has a personal score to settle with the Tsarekiller.
