"The Second World War" is an outstanding work by the 20th-century British politician Winston Churchill, which is a logical continuation of "The World Crisis" (1911-1918). He used the documents available after the war and conducted a large critical analysis of the prerequisites, causes and course of the war, paying attention, among other things, to his personal participation in the events.

The content of the ninth book, "Victory over Italy", describes the events of the summer and autumn of 1943 - the capture of Sicily and Italy by the Allied forces, the fall of Mussolini's fascist regime and preparations for Operation Overlord.

The tenth book, "From Tehran to Rome", begins with the main event of the autumn of 1943 - the Tehran Conference, at which Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin finally met. The narrative covers events on all fronts in Europe and Asia, victories in Italy and describes in detail the preparations for the Allied landing on the coast of France until June 1944.
