Three luminaries of Chinese poetry, three geniuses of the Tang era, translated by Alexander Gitovich, a poet whose talent made immortal poems part of Russian culture.

The freedom-loving vagabond and warrior Li Bo (701–762), the wise Du Fu (712–770), the refined aristocrat and artist Wang Wei (699–759) — they were contemporaries, friends, and participants in the largest civil war that shook China. Their poems are surprisingly consonant with any time, because by and large they are all about the main thing: love and separation, the road and war, the beauty of eternal nature and the transience of life.
