The book "World Luminary" was written by Metropolitan Veniamin (Fedchenkov) in 1933 and is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the death of St. Seraphim of Sarov.
Being an experienced spiritual writer, Vladyka turned with special love to hagiographical literature, stories about the saints of God, their feats and miracles. Thus, in 1930-1931 in Paris and Vienna, Metropolitan Veniamin began work on a manuscript entitled "Out of That World," which tells of events incomprehensible to the human mind, miracles and signs of God. A significant place in this work was devoted to St. Seraphim of Sarov. The book "World Luminary" includes chapters from the above manuscript, as well as the author's comprehended and revised biographies of the saint, compiled by monks Sergius, George and Joasaph, N.V. Elagin, and L.I. Denisov. In addition, the memoirs of N.A. Motovilov, N. Aksakova, the writings of the Holy Martyr Seraphim (Chichagov) and S.A. Nilus are cited. Metropolitan Veniamin's work contains the author's experience of a detailed description and interpretation of the spiritual path of the holy elder Seraphim and is rightly considered one of the best biographies of the Venerable Sarov wonderworker.
