It starts with this, what's-her-name... Well, anyway, that woman in the parking lot. She's wearing a nightgown and she's lying on her back, looking up at the sky. The nightgown is white, and around her neck are embroidered these blue-- what are they? Oh, yeah, forget-me-nots. There's a small crowd gathered around her. All in proforma-- I mean, uniforms. All younger than this woman, much younger. Looking at each other. Looking up at the sky. Looking down at the woman. They're whispering.
Rose is in her eighties and has dementia. Yet her life goes on. At times remarkably perceptive, at times remarkably oblivious, she spends her days wandering the corridors of the nursing home, reflecting on the staff and residents and waiting for visits from her emotionally distant children and granddaughters. But one day her roommate is found dead after falling from a window. And Rose begins the real investigation....
This is a sad, funny and truly touching story about how differently some people see the world, but they see things that are not available to the rest of us.
