A mysterious murder occurs on the prairie. Suspicion in the murder falls on a young mustanger Maurice Gerald, to whom the planter's daughter, the beautiful Louise, has given her heart. A friend of the mustanger, the brave hunter Zeb Stump, finds the main witness to the crime... After each chapter there is a commentary and translation of difficult words and expressions, as well as exercises aimed at checking the understanding of the text, practicing vocabulary and grammatical rules, developing oral speech.
