The book of the remarkable Russian Soviet writer Olga Dmitrievna Forsh (1873-1961) includes three of her early works, which are examples of the depth of penetration into the essence of human relations. The main meaning of the novel “Contemporaries” is in the ideological and creative dispute between the outstanding Russian artist Alexander Ivanov and N.V. Gogol about the problems of art of his time. The novel “Hot Workshop” is devoted to the events of 1905-1907, here the author turns to the image of the working and soldier environment, and in the novel “The Raven” – paints the life of the Petrograd artistic intelligentsia of the first two decades of the twentieth century. Olga Forsh writes with a firm and strong hand of a man, the restrained language of her books is convincingly accurate, the figures of the people depicted by her are alive and plastic. This talent is great and peculiar.
