The book is the seventeenth volume of the series devoted to the White Movement in Russia, and covers the military actions of the armed forces in the South of Russia in the first half of 1919, that is, from the time of their creation to the issuance of the so-called "Moscow Directive" by A.I. Denikin.
It was the time when the Whites completed the liberation of the North Caucasus from the Bolsheviks, cleared Crimea from them, began the movement to Tsaritsyn and Astrakhan, held Donbass. In the spring the Whites went on the offensive on all fronts, which created a strategic situation that allowed the All-South Yugoslav Republic of Yugoslavia to begin the march to Moscow. The book is equipped with extensive and for the first time published commentaries containing several hundred unknown biographical references about the authors and heroes of the essays.
