Jules Verne, creator of the fantasy-adventure novel genre, is one of the most widely read French authors, who is surpassed by few writers in the number of reprints. Verne's heroes conquer forests, deserts, the depths of the world's oceans, discover the mysteries of space and plunge into the bowels of the earth. Of course, science for a century and a half has mastered many reserved for that era of the territory, but inherent in the writer's mastery of intrigue, the ability to abruptly change the course of events and to this day are able to strike the reader's imagination. The novel "Around the World in Eighty Days" (1872) takes the reader on hundreds of roads around the globe in the company of London gentleman Phileas Fogg, his servant Passepartout and detective Ficks, familiar to all of us from childhood on numerous screenings.
